Congrats! Let's get you in your new apartment!

Take a deep breath, there's a lot to do before you're officially a new tenant. Make sure to pay special attention to the steps below to make sure nothing is missed!

Step 1: Notify the office whether you have accepted or denied the offer for tenancy.

Step 2: If accepting, you need to submit a non-refundable security deposit immediately upon our acceptance of your application for tenancy. The apartment is not yours until we receive a deposit, and we will continue to show it to other potential tenants, no exceptions.

Step 3: Once you've submitted your security deposit, make sure to nail down a specified move in date with the landlord. This is important for upcoming steps and the urgency of when they need to be completed.

Step 4: Utilities. Those are important. You'll need to turn the gas and electric on in your name. Give CL&P and CNG a call (numbers below) to get the utilities set up in your name. They'll usually tell you whether they need to send a technician out. If they tell you an appointment is necessary, make sure to make it within 2 days before your move in date. Write down the dates and times of the appointments, and let the office know as soon as they're scheduled - we cannot schedule a day for a lease signing until the appointments have been verified.

Step 5: Sign the lease!* We always schedule the lease signing for the date you'll be moving in. As soon as we have the signed copy of the lease in our hands, in addition to the first month's rent check, we'll hand you the keys and the apartment is yours!

*Make sure to remember: A lease is a legally binding document. It is important to review the entire lease to make sure you know all the rules! Small things may end up costing you money when it comes time to move out.
